# General Questions

#### What is the difference between TORUS and ZK (Zero-Knowledge)?

ZK is for scaling and verification (proving you know something without revealing it). TORUS (using FHE) is for computation. TORUS allows shared states—like a multiplayer game or a DEX—where data is encrypted but still interactive.

#### Is TORUS a "Privacy Coin"?

No. TORUS is a programmable privacy protocol. While you can build private tokens on it, it is a general-purpose smart contract platform. It is "Ethereum with privacy," not "Monero."
